The Daily Post Word-Surface

The Daily Post Word-Surface

I’ve never understood surface talk, but I consider it an art form. I say this because it seems a lot more difficult to carefully disguise what you really mean, than it is to simply speak your mind. It really resonates with me when Dave Ramsey says, “To be unclear is to be unkind!”. I learned as a young adult that I can’t expect others to read my mind, so I have no right to be upset when I didn’t communicate my needs clearly. Learning this tip seemed like it should have made the communication process easier with everyone around me. It didn’t, but at the end of the day I am glad to be able to say that I spoke my truth. If I have to participate in surface talk, I’d rather not say anything at all. That means most of the time I don’t.
