Jump

JUMPING to conclusions was a gift I was born with! I actually excel at it, and am usually on my way to save the day before anyone else can react. In the blink of an eye I’ve figured out exactly what happened based on every possible scenario, which I’d figured out in as little as five minutes. That conclusion usually didn’t include the facts since I didn’t take time to investigate BEFORE making the jump. In the past I thought my degree, as well as my personal experience from the couch (watching my favorite crime shows), made me an expert on everything and everyone! After growing up in Al-Anon, a program that was life changing for me, I realized jumping to conclusions was a habit I needed to break. Not only would it improve my relationship with others, it also wreaked havoc in my life by causing unnecessary stress. Seemed like that would have just been common sense, but it wasn’t. I’m still a work in progress on this, but these days I am a lot better at jumping to conclusions, and keeping my mouth shut! Baby steps!

Very succinctly put! We never stop learning. The day we realise that we wake up a little. I can’t remember who it was, maybe it was Plato who said: ‘a wise man knows he knows nothing’ (I may have paraphrased a little.)
