Ovation

Ovation

I experienced the emotional roller-coaster of Fences on Christmas evening. Denzel Washington is obviously a star in his own right, but Viola Davis deserves a standing ovation!

Had I not experienced much of these unpleasant life events first-hand, I would have still felt the emotional connection with her character as she transitioned through the myriad of emotions. Her performance mirrored the intense pain I felt back then and although these unpleasant memories are no longer places I feel the need to revisit, the fact that she could transport me back to them meant she gave this performance her all.

This film also solves a puzzle that has kept me confused for years when it comes to how men think. I love the feeling of walking away with the satisfaction of knowing that I have just learned a valuable life lesson!
