Devastation

Devastation

Sharing a few moving passages on devastation, the quote defining ignorance is my favorite! If you are willing, please share your favorite and why!

Any quote by Maya Angelou is sure to be filled with words of wisdom!

Something I’ve had to do is to cease being over-dramatic (it’s not easy and does take work, lol) and change my definition of devastation when it comes to describing my own personal challenges! When I pay attention to what’s going on around me and in the world today, my reality is that I have a lot to be grateful for. The term life lessons is a better fit, and I’ve learned to take the message from the mess  (usually that I created!) and move on.

What helps me stay focused on the positive thru challenging times is a gratitude list. My BFF Liz and I text our gratitude lists to each other weekly and it truly does make a difference in my life!

  1. Looking back over the past seventy some odd years I realize that all of the trials and tribulations I have had to endure have led me to the road I travel now. Having eight miscarriages and twin girls that were still born, acceptance, living through Cancer three times, faith, humility, love and hope. Finally I was graced with three beautiful children who are now all married raising families of their own. I am greatful and humbled every morning when I open my eyes to a brand new day because tomorrow is never promised. ☺☺

    • Thank you for sharing. Your post reminds me that there is always something to be grateful for. When we “think” we have it bad, the ability to look at real world challenges other face (like your painful reality) should help put things in perspective. We just spoke about this in my Weight Watcher meeting last night. Why be that upset because you ate an unplanned piece of cake or even gained one fourth of a pound! There are real world problems and those shouldn’t even be in the top 10! Their homework assignment, by the way, was to make a daily gratitude list!
