According to Google, Burnout is a state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion caused by excessive and prolonged stress. It occurs when you feel overwhelmed, emotionally drained, and unable to meet constant demands. It sounds a little like motherhood, lol. Yesterday I shared an article on burnout, now considered a medical condition by the World Health Organization. I believe this mental state occurs when we accept life on life’s terms rather than living our purpose. The real enemy is fear because it holds us hostage in a toxic environment, which is our mind rather than location. Although I have a B.S. Degree, reality checks are often more useful than my degree. In my thirty-seven years of working, not once have I ever been passionate about my job. As a single mother, I prioritized my children over my passion.
I’ll hit twenty years with my employer in December, and have held various positions during that time. Though grateful for a job, my goal is hitting that 20-year mark (it’s redonkulous not too since I’m so close) and then working in the area of my gifts. The only prescription needed for burnout is one of courage, followed by action steps. Today’s share is a short video by Ken Coleman, my favorite Dave Ramsey personality. He shares his thoughts on the topic, which were the same as mine. If you ‘re living only for the weekend, I suggest listening to his podcast and calling into his show. He walks the caller through the process of finding their sweet spot, defined as where your passion and talents meet.
